The Office of the Director, Space and Astronomy (S&A) is offering an opportunity for an adaptable and resilient individual, to join their team as Executive Officer, providing high-level administration and management support.  This pivotal role supports the efficient and effective operations of the S&A business unit and provides vital support to the S&A Executive.


As the Executive Officer for S&A, you will provide advice and support on complex issues, coordinate planning activities, undertake specific projects, conduct analyses and research, and formulate and prepare a range of strategic communications.

Your duties will be focussed in the following key areas:

 

  • Issues management – escalation, prioritisation, emerging issues, stakeholder management.
  • Coordination and planning – reviews, sensitive and complex issues, meetings conferences, committees, strategic and operational plans.
  • Compliance with CSIRO, governance and legislative requirements.
  • Communication – inbox oversight, annual report, newsletter, coordination, networking.
  • Projects, as required


Location:      Marsfield (Sydney) NSW
Salary:          AU$121k to AU$142k pa (pro-rata for part-time) + up to 15.4% superannuation
Tenure:         Indefinite – Full-time or Part-time job-share arrangement

To be considered you will need:

 

  • A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent management experience in an area relevant to the role.
  • A confident and pro-active approach with the ability to work well in a team, collaborate widely, and act as a link between key parties or initiatives.
  • Excellent written communication skills including the ability to prepare complex reports, analyses, plans and briefings.
  • Very strong analytical skills with a proven ability to investigate and resolve complex problems.
  • Excellent time management, prioritisation and negotiation skills, and the ability to effectively adapt in ambiguous situations. 
  • The ability and willingness to undertake occasional domestic travel (approximately 2-3 trips per year).
