The SKA Observatory (SKAO) is a next-generation global radio-astronomy facility that will revolutionise our understanding of the Universe and the laws of fundamental physics. It is one observatory with two telescopes – SKA-Low in Western Australia and SKA-Mid in South Africa.  To support this key initiative, CSIRO is expanding the Assembly, Integration and Verification (AIV) team to include an AIV Administrator.


As the AIV Administrator with CSIRO Space and Astronomy (S&A), you will provide key support for CSIRO’s AIV team. Reporting to the CSIRO AIV Team Leader, you will help develop and implement, the project processes and systems for the project management of the contract.  Additionally, you will provide administration, communication, co-ordination and project support for the CSIRO AIV team during construction. You will join a culturally and geographically diverse team and work closely with stakeholders who are located locally, intra/interstate and internationally. For success in this role, you will have experience in complex and fast paced engineering or scientific project environments, be highly adaptable and demonstrate resilience when circumstances change quickly.

Your duties will include:


  • Administration management, including team support, travel arrangements, project administration and support, document and deliverable management.
  • Issues management and referral.
  • Coordination for visitor travel, accommodation, induction etc., recruitment and onboarding, meetings and team activities, procurement.
  • Acting as central contact point for the CSIRO AIV team and maintaining effective relationships.
  • Preparation of correspondence, reports, financials, plans and presentations. 


Location:      Kensington (Perth) Western Australia
Salary:          AU$66k - AU$84k pa (pro-rata for part-time) plus up to 15.4% superannuation
Tenure:         Specified Term of 5 years - Full-time, part-time (minimum 0.6 FTE) or job-share

To be considered you will need:


  • Experience providing administration and project support in a fast paced and complex engineering or scientific project environment.
  • Proficiency in the MS suite of programs, HP Records Management (or similar), SAP and QBT (or similar), and in the use of virtual storage systems.
  • Exceptional organisational, communication and interpersonal skills, including an ability to gain trust with a range of people.
  • The ability to adapt quickly and demonstrate resilience and determination in often changing circumstances.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a multicultural and geographically diverse team environment.
  • Familiarity with project management concepts and practises.
  • The ability and willingness to attend meetings outside of standard hours (flex-leave arrangement).
