The Position

CSIRO Astronomy & Space Science (CASS) in collaboration with Data61 is looking for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join the vibrant and diverse CASS Astrophysics Group. The successful Fellow will work with CSIRO Scientists on the upcoming ASKAP all-sky continuum survey, Evolutionary Map of the Universe (EMU). You will be joining a flourishing cross-institutional research team working on machine learning in astronomy.

CSIRO offers PhD graduates an opportunity to launch their scientific careers through our Postdoctoral Fellowships. These fellowships provide experience that will enhance career prospects and facilitate the development of potential leaders for CSIRO.
Postdoctoral Fellows are appointed for up to three years and will work closely with a leading Research Scientist or Engineer in their respective field. They carry out innovative, impactful research of strategic importance to CSIRO with the possibility of novel and important scientific outcomes. They present the findings in appropriate publications and at conferences.

Location:       Kensington WA

Salary:           $78K - $88K plus up to 15.4% superannuation

To be successful you will need:

  • A doctorate (or will shortly satisfy the requirements of a PhD) in a relevant discipline area, such as Astrophysics, Computing, and/or Physics
  • Demonstrated record of research strength in astrophysics or computing
  • Demonstrated computer programming skills
