Records & Information Management (RIM) is responsible for ensuring culture of  good recordkeeping practice within CSIRO. The team provides tools, training and advice to assist CSIRO staff capture vital information through document management services that support research, business and governance across CSIRO.


RIM is entering an exciting phase as we complete the implementation of a new Saas Electronic Document and Records Management Solution (EDRMS), move towards in-place recordkeeping, and drive CSIRO's Information Management Roadmap.

The manager provides innovative leadership, management (financial and people) and vision to RIM teams within the Knowledge Services Program. You are a thought leader and industry expert who will ensure that RIM services continue to be leading edge, and you will play a leading role in CSIRO's transformation to meet the ever-changing information needs of our users. 


The position is responsible for supporting initiatives in the Information Management and Technology (IMT) Strategy, implementing agreed actions within the RIM Plan, and taking leadership for the Information Management Roadmap.

Travel is required to other CSIIRO sites within Australia.

Your duties will include:


  • Lead the operations of Records & Information Management (RIM) ensuring that services meet or exceed key performance indicators and user expectations
  • Develop and implement the RIM Plan and Information Management Roadmap, allocate and monitor resources, and achieve agreed outcomes
  • Provide leadership to the team and take responsibility for performance management and career development
  • Identify and adapt quickly to evolving client needs and environmental changes
  • Initiate, manage and deliver on strategic and operational project management framework


Location: Clayton (VIC), Black Mountain (ACT), St Lucia (QLD), Lindfield (NSW) or Waite (SA)

Salary: AU$117k - AU$138k plus up to 15.4% superannuation

To be considered you will need:


  • Undergraduate or postgraduate qualification in a relevant area such as Records Management or Information Management together with significant experience managing a large records management service.
  • Proven ability to motivate and develop a high performing team with a focus on delivering excellent customer service. Capacity to manage a geographically dispersed team.
  • Broad knowledge of the collection, storage and use of information and the technologies that support management of records and information.
  • Sound understanding of legislative requirements and regulations relating to Records Management and information governance.
  • Track record of innovation, implementing positive change, and transforming services to meet the evolving information needs of users. Demonstrated experience in influencing, shaping and delivery of solutions in a complex environment.
