About CSIRO
High-level duties include
- Lead the elicitation, analysis, documentation and validation of business, functional and non-functional requirements across complex IT, software, service improvement and lifecycle initiatives.
- Assess current and proposed processes, systems and services to identify risks, issues, benefits, dependencies, constraints and business impacts.
- Plan and facilitate stakeholder workshops, discovery sessions, requirements walkthroughs and prioritisation discussions with business and technical participants.
- Work with project managers, service owners and technical teams to inform estimates, implementation options, business benefits and potential efficiencies.
- Synthesize complex information into clear analysis outputs, recommendations and decision materials for project teams, management and stakeholder groups.
- Apply sound judgement to manage ambiguity, resolve competing priorities, escalate material risks and maintain alignment between business needs and delivery outcomes.
- Identify and implement improvements to analysis practices, templates, tools and delivery procedures within the Analysis, Design and Testing team.

Location and office arrangements: All Australian capital cities with CSIRO sites considered.
Salary: AU$135,571 – AU$158,863 per annum (pro rata for part-time), plus 15.4% superannuation

As the successful candidate, you will bring:
Essential criteria
- 5+ years’ experience in a business analysis role or experience in a related discipline coupled with relevant training and/or certification.
- Extensive experience eliciting, analysing, validating and managing business requirements, functional and non-functional requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and traceable analysis artefacts for complex information systems and digital solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to lead business analysis activities across complex projects or programs, including stakeholder engagement, requirements management, process analysis, prioritisation solution definition, and delivery outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience analysing and improving business processes, services and technology-enabled workflows, including the identification of risks, dependencies, constraints, benefits and business impacts; to inform solution design and delivery outcomes of information systems, software solutions or Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to influence, negotiate and build effective relationships with diverse stakeholder groups, including business representatives, technical specialists, vendors and project teams.
- Proven experience operating within complex iterative delivery environments and guiding requirements refinement, solution validation and delivery outcomes across multiple workstreams or competing priorities.
- Highly developed communication skills, including the ability to synthesise complex information, prepare decision-support artefacts, and present recommendations to business and technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor or support team members and contribute to the continuous improvement of business analysis practices, standards and delivery approaches.
- Demonstrated knowledge of, and commitment to, the principles of workplace diversity, equal employment opportunity, health, safety and wellbeing.
Desirable
- Proven experience using Design Thinking Methodology.
- Proficiency in BA tools modelling standards (e.g. Business Process Model Notation)
