The Position

CSIRO Data61 are seeking a talented quantitative researcher to join our team of environmental and agricultural statisticians in Canberra. In this role you will be working primarily on the application of quantitative methods to biosecurity and ecological applications.

The CSIRO through Data61 is seeking to deepen its abilities to undertake quantitative research underpinning biosecurity decision making. Areas of research include modelling invasion pathways of pests and pathogens, and making inference on the dynamics of eradication programs, and environmental monitoring.

Your success in this role will be underpinned by your record of science innovation and creativity, plus your ability and willingness to incorporate novel ideas and approaches into scientific investigations.

To be considered you will hold a doctorate (or masters with equivalent skills and experience) in a relevant discipline area, such as statistics, applied mathematics, or in a relevant application domain (e.g. agriculture, environmental science, epidemiology, ecology) with a demonstrably strong quantitative component.

You will also have a demonstrated ability to manipulate, analyse and make inference from data and strong programming skills (e.g. R, Python or equivalent) to undertake customised statistical data analyses.

Salary:             AU$92K- $100K plus up to 15.4% superannuation
