The opportunity
The Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex (CDSCC) supports spacecraft telecommunications as part of NASA’s Deep Space Network (DSN), through a contract between NASA and CSIRO.
As a Project Manager at CDSCC, you’ll work alongside another Project Manager to manage existing and new projects, as well as major maintenance activities that align with the site’s operational and strategic goals. You’ll collaborate across CDSCC, CSIRO, NASA, and JPL teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Based in the Facilities and Maintenance Services division, the team oversees all onsite operations, delivering high-quality facilities and maintenance support.
Your duties will include:

Lead end-to-end project management at CDSCC, ensuring timely delivery, within scope and budget.

Coordinate with internal teams and international partners, acting as a key liaison to ensure project alignment and progress.

Oversee contractors and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with CSIRO/NASA standards, safety, and risk protocols.

Implement efficient project systems, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and reporting methodologies.

Manage project governance, including contracts, financials, policies, procedures, and post-project reviews.

Communicate clearly and respectfully with all stakeholders, supporting collaboration and reinforcing CSIRO’s reputation.

Salary: AU$113,529 – $135,931 + 15.4% superannuation. Tracking Station Allowance $123.95/week. (Pro-rata salary for part-time)

To be considered you will need:
Essential:
Under CSIRO policy only those who meet all essential criteria can be appointed.

Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (e.g. Project Management) or equivalent experience, with a proven track record in large or complex organisations.

Demonstrated experience in delivering expert advice, training, and support.

Proven ability to lead and manage projects independently, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, implementing, and delivering outcomes to stakeholder expectations.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team, with strong relationship-building skills across diverse groups.
-
Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills to support knowledge sharing, coaching, and effective collaboration.
Desirable:
-
Experience working with trades and technical staff in a maintenance or operations environment.

Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering.
