The Position

CSIRO offers PhD graduates an opportunity to launch their scientific careers through our Postdoctoral Fellowships. These fellowships provide experience that will enhance career prospects and facilitate the development of potential leaders for CSIRO.

Owing to the terms of the fellowship, candidates must not have more than 3 years of relevant full time (or part time equivalent) postdoctoral experience.

CSIRO’s Data61 is seeking a Postdoc Fellow to focus on decentralised security, privacy and trust for the internet of Things underpinned by Blockchain.  In this position you will conduct research at the cutting edge of IoT and Blockchain research.

Your duties/responsibilities will include:

  • Under the direction of senior research scientists, carry out innovative, impactful research of strategic importance to CSIRO that will, where possible, lead to novel and important scientific outcomes.
  • Undertake regular reviews of relevant literature and patents.
  • Produce high quality scientific and/or engineering papers suitable for publication in quality journals, for client reports and granting of patents.

Location:      Pullenvale QLD
Salary:          AU$80K - $91K plus up to 15.4% superannuation

To be successful you will need:

  • A doctorate (or will shortly satisfy the requirements of a PhD) in a relevant discipline area, such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar.
  • Demonstrated experience in network security, privacy, and trust methods, including blockchain
  • Knowledge of IoT network issues relating to resource-constraints, scalability, and disruption-tolerance
  • Demonstrated experience in distributed algorithms and systems covering areas such as consistency and synchronisation
