Are you a qualified Software Engineer looking for an opportunity to gain real-world experience whilst working with innovative researchers? The Australian e-Health Research Centre (AEHRC) is a world class centre undertaking research and development across health and biomedical informatics and health services. We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated individual within our Health Informatics group to contribute to multiple projects undertaken within AEHRC and with partner organisations. These projects will include the development of new platforms and applications for data interoperability in healthcare – including information modelling with FHIR and OMOP and the use of clinical terminologies such as SNOMED CT.

Your duties will include:


  • Working with clients and CSIRO researchers and software engineers to lead projects in developing software and solutions to deliver high-impact solutions within the area of integration and analysis of clinical and other health data.
  • Developing and maintaining high-quality software in accordance with industry best practice and organisational guidelines.
  • Contributing to the management and administration of operational business systems, websites, and associated infrastructure.
  • Communication of project outcomes through support documentation, demonstrations, and presentations.
  • Helping build CSIRO’s research and engineering reputation for integrated and multi-disciplinary science related to health data semantics.


Location: Brisbane, RBWH

Salary: AU$85,361 to AU$96,573 pa up to 15.4% superannuation

To be considered you will need:

  • Knowledge and skills gained through tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as Computer Science or equivalent field.
  • Interest in developing digital health applications
  • Understanding of, and experience in developing mobile and/or web-based applications with technologies such as Angular, React, Flutter, and Dart.
  • Strong experience with Python, Java-based frameworks and libraries such as Spring Boot, Lucene, Apache Spark.
  • Knowledge of public cloud infrastructure and containerised deployment through for example Kubernetes
  • A history of working in a team environment and participating in an agile software development process
