Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) at CSIRO engages with all levels of the organisation to deliver future-focussed and leading-edge initiatives to significantly improve CSIRO’s HSE culture. CSIRO has an exciting opportunity for HSE Business Analyst to join their team. 

As the HSE Business Analyst, you’ll be working closely with the HSE team and business representatives to deliver solutions for effective HSE practices. You’ll apply your strong analytical skills in developing business requirements, assessing impacts of proposed changes and the implementation of procedures, processes and systems. You will engage with a wide range of stakeholders across the organisation and play a key role in improving CSIRO’s HSE Management System and associated digital systems. 

Your qualifications in business and/or data analysis and your demonstrated experience in capturing and implementing business requirements for changes in systems and processes, will see you well placed to make an impact at CSIRO. Your duties will include:

  • Monitoring, assessing and responding to queries and enhancements related to the HSE management system and digital systems.
  • Analysing and effectively communicating the business impact for changes proposed to HSE Management System including procedures, processes and associated digital solutions.
  • Actively assisting and facilitating the development, revision and implementation of HSE Management System procedures and tools to ensure effective business operations and compliance.
  • Assisting in designing and delivering effective reporting options to meet business requirements for monitoring and informing HSE activity and priorities.
  • Actively supporting HSE assurance activity to meet compliance requirements and business goals.
  • Supporting the implementation of CSIRO’s HSE plan through the planning and delivery of priority HSE activities and initiatives, with a focus on organisational consistency across CSIRO sites.
  • Other duties as directed. 

Location: Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane, Hobart or Adelaide preferred, with other locations negotiable.

Salary: AU$105k - AU$114k per-annum plus up to 15.4% superannuation

Tenure: Specified term of 36 months, Full-time.

To be considered you will need:

  • Tertiary qualification in business analysis and/or data analysis. 
  • Experience in system implementations and developing engagement strategies for stakeholders impacted by system and process changes.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience in facilitation and presentation and report writing skills for a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Strong proven ability to build trusted relationships rapidly and positively influence stakeholders to achieve effective business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated significant experience in capturing business requirements for changes to business processes, business systems and informing change impact to people.
  • Demonstrated significant experience in developing business requirements and process flows for changes involving technology solutions and business processes. 
  • Strong organisation skills and be responsive and reliable in working to business priorities and timelines. 
  • Ability to be a proactive, cooperative and supportive team member to achieve strategic objectives.


  • Extensive experience in health, safety and environment (HSE) processes, systems and/or safety related compliance activity.
  • Experience in system implementations and developing engagement strategies for stakeholders impacted by system and process changes.
