We are seeking a Content Advisor to help bring CSIRO’s purpose and impact to life through compelling storytelling. Working in a team of experts, you will support the planning, producing and optimising of both long and shortform digital content, including articles, newsletters, and social media content.

We’re looking for a content all-rounder who is both creative and analytical, with demonstrated experience in creating compelling social media and web content for diverse audiences, optimising content for SEO, and using digital tools and analytics to drive engagement and improve performance. 

The ideal candidate will be proactive, collaborative and audience-focused, with a strong grasp of best-practice digital storytelling techniques and a passion for communicating science and technology.

Working closely with the Media and Editorial team, this role sits within the Social Media team; a supportive, fast-paced team that supports all research units with strategic campaigns and always-on content for CSIRO’s social media channels.

Your duties will include:

  • Collaborating with communicators to create engaging and effective social media content for various platforms to support delivery of the Communication strategy.
  • Planning, writing, editing and publishing engaging longform content for CSIRO’s owned channels, including our website and external newsletters, using SEO best practice and CSIRO’s editorial tone and style.
  • Monitoring and moderating social media, understanding the risks and opportunities inherent in two-way engagement with the community and referring issues to managers where appropriate.
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to source stories, share updates, and support campaign execution across digital platforms.
  • Applying strong editorial judgement to ensure consistency, clarity and impact across all external digital content.
  • Monitoring and reporting on performance metrics across content types and platforms, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.


Location: Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth, Hobart or Newcastle.

Salary: AU$96k - AU$109k pa plus 15.4% superannuation

To be considered you will need:

  • Exceptional writing skills and ability to create compelling, high-quality content for digital platforms including articles, social media and web.
  • High-level communication skills and experience writing for a wide variety of audiences and channels, adhering to author and editorial guidelines.
  • Proactive approach and ability to build and maintain high trust, respected and collaborative working relationships with clients across a wide range of disciplines at all levels of the organisation.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating user-centric content including optimising for customer experience, search, social and accessibility.
  • Demonstrated experience using initiative and working independently to achieve results.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to new information and develop new skills.
  • Ability to obtain and provide evidence of holding a valid paid/employee (not volunteer) Working with Children/ Vulnerable People Check prior to confirmation of appointment.   

Desirable

  • Experience working with Sitecore and online usability issues and opportunities.
  • Experience using Sprinklr for social media management.
  • Understanding organisational tone of voice, brand attributes and the policies and guidelines that exist to support them.
