The opportunity
We are seeking a Communication Advisor to support CSIRO’s Industry and Community Engagement team. The team delivers the marketing of a large portfolio of programs and initiatives, aligned with CSIRO's strategy to build Australia’s STEM capability, industry collaboration and commercialisation, now and into the future.
In this role, you will help position CSIRO as a pivotal force within the STEM landscape and as a key collaborator working to strengthen Australia’s national innovation system. You will develop and deliver marketing communication strategies to amplify the impact of our programs and initiatives.

Your high-level duties will include:
- Building strong relationships across the organisation and within the Communication Unit, contributing to the delivery of CSIRO’s Communication Strategy and strategic goals.
- Acting as a trusted advisor to program delivery teams supported by the Industry and Community Engagement team, providing professional and strategic communication and marketing advice.
- Establishing and maintaining internal and external networks beneficial to the achievement of CSIRO’s goals.
- Delivering impact-driven marketing and communication strategies and campaigns that reach the education and innovation sectors, government agencies, external partners and the community.

Location: Any AU CSIRO location considered
Salary: AU$100k – AU$113k per annum plus 15.4% superannuation
Tenure: Specified term of 17 months, Full-time

As the successful candidate, you will bring:
- A relevant tertiary qualification and/or relevant experience in PR, journalism, communication or marketing.
- Demonstrated proven experience delivering marketing and communication strategies, expertise and advice aligned to business objectives.
- Demonstrated experience managing integrated and creative communication campaigns, including developing content for digital audiences.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated stakeholder management skills with a focus on negotiation and influencing to build and maintain positive relationships with both internal and external contacts.
- The ability to work with and provide guidance to the Communication Unit as well as CSIRO’s senior managers and staff.
